Sacramento County
— Motorists can expect travel delays beginning Friday, August 9 on the Interstate 80 to Interstate 5 connector in Sacramento for asphalt and electrical work.

A contractor will be closing the eastbound I-80 to south-and northbound I-5 connector, southbound I-5 to eastbound I-80 connector, and lane #2 of the westbound I-80 to southbound I-5 connector around the clock starting 10 p.m. Friday, August 9 and continuing through 5 a.m. Monday, August 12.

Caltrans advises motorists to plan for these delays and allow additional travel time. The California Highway Patrol will be at the work sites for traffic enforcement. The following detours are recommended.

DETOURS:
  • From EAST 80 to 5 continue EAST 80 to Truxel Road off-ramp (EXIT 88) to turn around on to WEST 80 San Francisco loop on-ramp and back to 5.
  • From SOUTH 5 to EAST 80 continue SOUTH 5 to Richards Boulevard off-ramp (EXIT 520) to turn around onto NORTH 5 and back to EAST 80.
This project is to preserve and extend the life of existing pavement and improve ride quality. The work will include rehabilitating pavement at various connectors and ramps in Sacramento County, on I-80, from 0.2 miles west of W. El Camino O.C. to 0.2 miles east of 80/244 Separation. More information on this project can be located here.

Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work. Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3.
