Olivehurst, Yuba County — Motorists can anticipate intermittent overnight closures of southbound State Highway 70 at the Olivehurst Avenue overcrossing starting Wednesday, June 5, and continuing over the next 2½ months due to emergency repair work.

The lane closures are scheduled from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Monday through Friday through mid-August to allow crews to repair damage to the overcrossing. Southbound traffic will be diverted to the Olivehurst off-ramp and then through the intersection to the Highway 65 on-ramp. Flaggers will be stationed at the top of the exit.

Caltrans also reminds motorists that one-way traffic control managed by a temporary automated stoplight will continue for westbound and eastbound traffic on the overcrossing for the duration of the repair work.

Golden State Bridge of Benicia is the contractor for the $1.6 million emergency project. The bridge was damaged last month after a backhoe being transported on the back of a trailer struck the overcrossing.

Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work. Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.”

The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3. For real-time traffic, click on Caltrans’ QuickMap or download the QuickMap app from the App Store or Google Play.
