Wastewater Maintenance Project at Lakehead, Hillcrest, and Shingletown Rest Areas

REDDING – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans District 2), in conjunction with Maggiora Bros. Drilling, Inc., is preparing to begin work on a wastewater maintenance project at Safety Roadside Rest Area locations in Shasta County. The $64k project will replace groundwater well pumps for potable water sources at the following locations:

·      Lakehead Safety Roadside Rest Area (southbound Interstate 5, north of Lakehead)

·      Hillcrest Safety Roadside Rest Area (State Route 299, four miles east of Montgomery Creek)

·      Shingletown Safety Roadside Rest Area (State Route 44, three miles east of Shingletown)

Construction activities are anticipated to begin on October 11th. Each rest area will be closed to the traveling public while construction work is underway at the facility. The project is planned to be complete by the end of October. The Hillcrest and Shingletown Safety Roadside Rest Areas are also planned for seasonal closures starting November 1st.
