Susanville Area Broadband Project on State Route 36 in Lassen County
The Project:
The Susanville Area Middle-Mile Broadband Network Project (Good Susie) will install broadband conduits, fiber optic cable, and vaults on State Route 36 in and around Susanville (Lassen County), from the junction with State Route 139 to the junction with U.S. 395. This construction is part of the State’s effort being led by the California Department of Technology (CDT) to build a reliable and resilient middle-mile broadband network across the state for locals to draw from to improve local connectivity.
Project Includes:
Installation of broadband conduits and fiber optic cable in project area, along with installation of cable marker posts and vaults.
Current Project Schedule:
There are an estimated 74 working days for this project, all of which will require traffic control. Construction is currently scheduled for June – October 2024.
Project Funding Estimates:
Total project cost (including support) is $4.94 million. This project is made possible by funding from the Middle-Mile Broadband Initiative (MMBI) through CA Senate Bill 156 and the California Department of Technology (CDT).
