Southbound Cottonwood Scales Project on Interstate 5

SB Cottonwood Scales Project

The Project:

The SB Cottonwood Scales project in Tehama County is on Interstate 5 about 7 miles north of Red Bluff from 0.3 mile north of Snively Road Overcrossing to 0.4 mile north of Bowman Road Overcrossing. This project will upgrade the southbound Cottonwood Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility (CVEF) to a full Class C facility.

Project Benefits:

Upgrading the current CVEF to Class C standards will accommodate proper staffing and functionality to perform all needed inspection and enforcement duties by the California Highway Patrol. Upgrading the scales will provide an inspection building/bay that can accommodate overweight trucks, adequate parking for trucks, and improve traffic flow, along with provide a water and sanitary sewer system.

 

Project Includes:

This project includes a new structure and paving, new pipe under I-5 mainline using directional boring.

 

Current Project Schedule:

It is estimated this project will take 270 workings days, with 30 days requiring traffic control. Construction is scheduled to start in the summer of 2023.
