O'Brien CAPM Project on Interstate 5
The Project:
The O’Brien CAPM project is in Shasta County along Interstate 5, about 6 miles north of Shasta Lake City from Pit River Bridge to 1.2 miles south of Dog Creek Bridge.
Project Benefits:
The purpose of the project is to restore the pavement to a state of good repair that will require minimal maintenance. Deteriorated signs will be replaced, and existing striping and pavement markers will be upgraded to higher visibility and current standards. CCTV elements will also be upgraded.
Project Includes:
The project includes 13.45 miles of pavement rehabilitation of the mountainous section of Interstate 5 through Lake Shasta and the lower Sacramento River Canyon. The replacement of 80 signs. Upgrading eight ITS elements and extending fiber-optic capability from Antlers Summit to Sacramento Hill. Replacement of 805 feet of concrete barrier.
Current Project Schedule:
It is estimated this project will take 215 workings days, with all days requiring traffic control. Construction is scheduled to start in 2024.
