The Project:

The McArthur Mixed Strategy Project will place an asphalt rubber chip seal at the following locations:

  • State Route 299 (Shasta County) from approximately 2 miles west of Buzzard Roost Road (west of Round Mountain) to Old Bertagna Place (near Montgomery Creek).
  • State Route 299 (Shasta County) from just east of Sierra Center Drive (Fall River Mills) to the Shasta/Lassen County Line.

In addition, a thin hot mix asphalt overlay will be placed in McArthur along with cold planing the roadway to match existing surfaces.

Project Includes:

Placement of thin hot mix asphalt overlay in McArthur and asphalt rubber chip seal at other locations in project area.

Current Project Schedule:

There are an estimated 30 working days for this project, all which will require traffic control.  Construction is currently scheduled for summer of 2022.

Project Funding Estimates:

Total project cost (including support) is $2.5 million.  This project is made possible by Highway Maintenance (HM) funding.
