SAN DIEGO —Caltrans crews working the Interstate 8 (I-8) Bridge Rehabilitation Project between La Mesa and El Cajon will close several lanes for night work that will result in a slight traffic switch. Motorists will have access to the same number of lanes when the freeway reopens each morning. The following I-8 lanes between Grossmont Boulevard and Marshall Avenue will close for night work beginning Sunday:

Sunday and Monday

7 p.m. to 5 a.m., eastbound and westbound left two lanes (lanes 1 and 2).

Tuesday

7 p.m. to 5 a.m., eastbound and westbound left two lanes.

10 p.m. to 3 a.m., westbound lane 3.

8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Main Street on-ramp.

Wednesday

9 p.m. to 5 a.m., eastbound and westbound left two lanes.

12 midnight to 5 a.m., westbound lane 3.

Thursday

7 p.m. to 5 a.m., eastbound and westbound left two lanes.

The closures are a part of a six-mile $27.7 million project that involves bridge rehabilitation and concrete slab repairs on both westbound and eastbound I-8. The work schedule is subject to change due to weather, traffic incidents, or other construction considerations.
