Expect Overnight Work and Daytime Traffic Control
SAN DIEGO — Caltrans construction crews will continue pedestrian crossing ramp improvements in downtown Ramona along Main Street as part of the State Route 67 (SR-67) Pavement Rehabilitation Project. The sidewalks will comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Nighttime work is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 5, through Monday, March 6, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. at the following locations:
- Ramona Street/Day Street and Main Street
- 15th Street and Main Street
- 13th Street and Main Street
Nighttime work includes jackhammering and breaking up of concrete, and residents may notice construction-related noise. The evening schedule is set to minimize traffic impacts and increase worker safety as crews work in lanes.
Once the concrete is broken up, crews will switch to daytime work in the same locations to pour new concrete and upgrade the access along SR-67/Main Street.
As a result, travelers will notice that Main Street will be reduced to one lane in the construction zone from 9 a.m. to Noon.
More work is scheduled for next week. As those locations are finalized, Caltrans will notify the community. Work has already been performed at N. Ramona, 11th Street, 16th Street, and Julian Street. While this section of SR-67/Main Street is a residential area, it is zoned as a critical commuter and commercial arterial route.
This work is part of a year-and-a-half-long project to repair and improve 18 miles of travel way and shoulders SR-67 from just north of the San Diego River Bridge in Lakeside to State Route 78 in Ramona.
Other project features include pavement markings at intersections as part of complete street-enhanced crosswalk visibility and modifying existing traffic signal systems. In addition, new and improved guardrails have been installed at 36 locations along SR-67.
Beginning in April, a larger project to repair and improve 18 miles of SR-67 will begin, from just north of the San Diego River Bridge in Lakeside to State Route 78 in Ramona. That work will last through 2024.
Motorists are reminded to be Work Zone Alert if traveling in the area and to watch for highway workers and moving construction equipment.
The construction schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions, traffic incidents, or other construction-related reasons.
