Northbound SR-163 Ramps to Friars Road and I-8 Closed Saturday, 4/30

SAN DIEGO —Motorists traveling to the Fashion Valley and Mission Valley area hotels and malls Saturday should give themselves extra time to reach their destination. Maintenance crews will close the northbound State Route 163 (SR-163) connector ramps to eastbound and westbound Interstate 8 (I-8) from 4 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday to it install crash cushions.

The closures will primarily affect northbound SR-163 motorists traveling from Downtown San Diego and Hillcrest to Fashion Valley and Mission Valley. For these motorists, there will be no access to the northbound SR-163 Friars Road off-ramp.

I-8 and Friars Road motorists will be detoured to continue north on SR-163 to the westbound Genesee Avenue off-ramp, turn right to the southbound SR-163 Genesee Avenue on-ramp, continue south on SR-163 to the Friars Road off-ramp or to the I-8 eastbound or westbound connector ramps.

The closure also includes the northbound SR-163 6th Avenue on-ramp. Motorists will be detoured east on University Avenue, turn right onto 10th Avenue to the southbound SR-163 10th Avenue on-ramp.
