Lane Reductions on SR-78/Main Street in Ramona Begin Tonight to Restore Parking

SAN DIEGO — Construction crews will reduce lanes to one lane in each direction on State Route 78/Main Street between 8th Street and 10th Street in Ramona tonight from 8 until 5 Friday morning, according to Caltrans. The work is part of the SR-78 Ramona Parking Project to resurface and restripe the road. The new striping will include 41 parking spaces.

Crews will remove the existing striping and place temporary striping overnight and open all lanes to motorists Friday morning.

Businesses in the area can expect loud construction noise during grinding and sweeping operations as well as general noise and back-up alarms from moving construction equipment.

Construction work with lane reductions will continue in the project area Saturday and Sunday 3-9 a.m. for pavement microsurfacing. All lanes will open with temporary striping both days at 9 a.m.

Crews anticipate reducing lanes in the project area Monday, April 18 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for final striping to complete the project.

Travelers in the area are reminded to Be Work Zone Alert watch for highway workers and moving construction equipment.

The construction schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions, traffic incidents or other construction related reasons.
