SAN DIEGO — Crews will close two of three lanes along eastbound Interstate 8 (I-8) between Willows Road and State Route 79 (SR-79) Tuesday through Friday at 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day for concrete slab replacement, according to Caltrans. The partial lane closures will be established in segments with one open lane.

The eastbound I-8 connector to SR-79/Japatul Valley Road will also be closed as needed. Detour signs will be placed at the I-8/SR-79 connector directing motorists to continue east and exit at Pine Valley Road north, to westbound I-8, returning to SR-79/Japatul Valley Road.

The vista point east of Alpine will remain open.

The speed limit in the construction zone will be reduced to 55 MPH for the duration of repairs.

Motorists are advised to anticipate minor delays and allow additional travel time for the detour.

The work will involve removing damaged concrete slabs and pouring concrete for new slabs. Maintenance crews will restore striping following repairs. Please drive alertly and watch for workers and moving construction equipment in the work zone.
