EL CENTRO, Calif. — A portion of State Route 111 (SR-111) between State Route 98 (SR-98) and Cole Road in Calexico will be reduced to one lane in each direction Wednesday through Friday at 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day for paving operations, according to Caltrans. The lane closures at this location will continue during the same hours Monday and Tuesday, February 5.

Motorists on westbound SR-98 will not be able to turn right onto northbound SR-111 during work hours on Thursday and Friday and will need to find alternate routes. Eastbound SR-98 to northbound SR-111 will remain open.

Access will be restored to all lanes at 6 p.m. each day. Advance warning signs will be in place advising for closures.

Motorists approaching the work area can expect slower traffic and are advised to plan ahead and allow additional travel time.

Completion of the project will result in long lasting repairs needed to sustain a reliable and safe transportation system for the users who depend on these routes.

Travelers in the area are reminded to watch for highway workers and construction equipment and to Be Work Zone Alert. The work schedule is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.
