SAN DIEGO — The westbound Interstate 8 (I-8) Morena Boulevard off-ramp will close for approximately 60 days beginning Sunday at 9 p.m., according to Caltrans. This is the second and final long-term closure needed for the $22 million traffic improvement project for westbound I-8 to Interstate 5. Changeable messages signs are in place to alert motorists.

During the closure Morena Boulevard can be accessed by:

  • Using the Taylor Street off-ramp. Continue straight and follow the road over the bridge and make a right at the stop sign to Taylor Street. Go to the next traffic light and make a right on Morena Boulevard.
  • Continuing on westbound I-8 to the northbound I-5 connector ramp to the Sea World Drive off-ramp. Turn right onto Tecolote Road to the traffic signal at Morena Boulevard.
  • Accessing Friars Road. Northbound and southbound motorists on State Route 163 can use the Friars Road off-ramp and continue west on Friars Road, make a right on Napa Street, then continue straight through three traffic signals to Morena Boulevard.
