SAN DIEGO — Construction crews will close all lanes of southbound State Route 67 (SR-67) at State Route 52 (SR-52) Thursday from 12:01 to 4 a.m. to replace overhead signs, according to Caltrans. The highway will reopen before the Thursday morning commute.

Motorists will be detoured to westbound SR-52 to the Cuyamaca Street off-ramp and turn left, continue on Cuyamaca Street to the eastbound SR-52 on-ramp to southbound SR-67.

The work is part of a county-wide project to install self-reflective signs that use headlights from highway vehicles to illuminate the sign. The new signs will enhance nighttime visibility and will replace signs requiring light fixtures to light up the signs. Caltrans engineers estimate that the new signs will reduce electrical use by seven percent.
