State Route 67 Culvert Rehabilitation and Restoration Project
Location: State Route 67 from just north of Riverford Rd. in Lakeside to Ellie Ln. in Poway.

PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Caltrans SR-67 Culvert Rehabilitation and Restoration Project aims to improve and extend the service life of SR-67 from just west of Riverford Rd. in Lakeside to Ellie Ln. in Poway. The project aims to improve Drainage system capacity, enhance the road surface, enhance safety, and ensure reliable access for all users.
PROJECT FEATURES
This project focuses on upgrading sections of SR-67 with a durable asphalt mix. This rehabilitation work will include:
- Repairing/replacing drainage systems to enhance capacity,
- Upgrading ADA curb ramps at:
- Winter Gardens
- Channel Rd.
- Maple View St.
- Gold Bar Ln.
- Upgrading pavement delineation and striping,
- Upgrading road signage at specific locations,
- Installing centerline and shoulder rumble strips,
- Upgrading slope paving to meet current standards,
- Upgrading dikes, and
- Modify select lighting system
PROJECT BENEFITS
The project will provide improved drainage system conditions, enhanced safety, and longer-lasting infrastructure along a major route for all users.
PROJECT STATUS AND SCHEDULE
- Construction Start: February 2026
- Duration: Approximately 550 Working Days
- Total Project Cost: $11.6 million
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING CONSTRUCTION
Construction on this project will be covered by day (06:30 AM to 03:30 PM) and night (08:30 PM to 05:00 AM) shifts depending on activities and road closure requirements. However, work will initially start during the d shifts and will be conducted based on design stagi, ng in approximately one-mi segments at a time.
Work will involve utilization of heavy machinery, construction lights, saw cutting, grinding, excavation, backfilling, road closures and flagging crews to direct traffic safely through work zones as applicable. Drivers should anticipate minor to moderate delays (depending on location), follow posted signage, and remain vigilant around workers and equipment. Access along SR-67 will always be maintained; however, lane closures and bus ops may occur during active work hours, which may affect access to driveways located directly on SR-67.
