Spring Pass Clearing Update
Sonora Pass (State Route 108)

Tuolumne County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has relocated the State Route 108/Sonora Pass eastbound closure gate out to Eagle Meadows as of 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025.

Caltrans maintenance crews have been working 10 hours a day, 7 days a week since pass clearing operations began last week. During which time the Long Barn maintenance crew has encountered debris and down trees but have continued working tirelessly to re-open Sonora Pass out to Eagle Meadows.

State Route 108/Sonora Pass will remain closed to eastbound traffic at the Eagle Meadows closure gate while crews continue clearing the pass out to Kennedy Meadows and beyond. While Caltrans cannot specify the exact date Sonora Pass will formally reopen to traffic for the season, we will however be providing weekly pass clearing updates to the public.

For the latest road closure and traffic conditions go to Quickmap.dot.ca.gov, download our QuickMap mobile app, tune your car radio to Caltrans Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) at 530 AM, 1610 AM, or call the Caltrans Road Condition Hotline at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623).
