Rest Area, Lane & Ramp Closures
Interstate 5 And State Routes 99 & 140
MERCED COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various closures on Interstate 5 (I-5) and State Route 99 (SR-99) and SR-140 for maintenance and construction operations. Work is scheduled to occur as follows:
Full closure of the John C. Erreca Rest Areas on northbound and southbound I-5 beginning Monday, April 4, 2022, through October 31, 2024.
- ALTERNATE LOCATIONS: Motorists are advised to use either the Westley Rest Area (San Joaquin/Stanislaus County line) or the Coalinga-Avenal Rest Area (Fresno/Kings County line). Electric vehicle charging stations are available at the Westley Rest Area.
One-way traffic control on the Le Grand Road Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, August 4, through Friday, August 9, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
One-way traffic control on the Childs Avenue Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, August 4, through Friday, August 9, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
One-way traffic control on the Franklin Road Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, August 4, through Friday, August 9, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Full off-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at Le Grand Road Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, August 4, through Friday, August 9, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Full off-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at Le Grand Road Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, August 4, through Friday, August 9, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Full off-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at Mission Avenue Over-Crossing for shoulder work on Monday, August 5, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
One-way traffic control from Linden Avenue to the Gustine Railroad Crossing for curb and gutter work beginning Monday, August 5, through Friday August 9, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Long-term one-way traffic control at the Los Banos Creek for bridge work beginning Monday, August 5, at 6:00 a.m. through Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.
Long-term full closure from 5th Street to Fifth Avenue in Gustine for construction work beginning Monday, April 22, at 6:00 a.m. through Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
All work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment, and/or materials and construction related issues.
