Mariposa County
Caltrans to Re-Open State Route 140
One-Way Traffic Controls
Mariposa County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) issued a long-term full closure of State Route 140 (SR-140) near Briceburg in Mariposa County as the result of a rockslide event that occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025.
Caltrans and Teichert Construction have continued to make good progress removing the rockslide debris and making needed repairs to the roadway this week.
Beginning Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. Caltrans will be re-opening SR-140 to motorists under one-way traffic control from Savage Trading Post to just west of the Ferguson Rock Shed Project. Caltrans top priority is the safety of the traveling public, as well as our crews, and the contractor who are all working diligently to restore the roadway as safely as possible. Caltrans is asking motorist to expect 5-10 minute delays or more, and to slow down and #MoveOver through the construction zone.
This work is subject to change due to weather, availability of equipment, materials, and or construction-related issues. Caltrans reminds motorists to #KnowBeforeYouGo by checking quickmap.dot.ca.gov or Caltrans QuickMap app on mobile devices for real-time highway conditions prior to travel.
