Amador County – Caltrans is preparing to begin a maintenance project to rehabilitate the roadway surface at several locations on State Routes 104 and SR-124 near the city of Ione in Amador County.

The project will repair damaged sections of the roadway surface, replace existing drainage inlets to reduce potential stormwater pooling on the roadway, and refresh all pavement striping and delineation.  Work will occur at the following locations:

  • State Route 104 – one-mile segment from Oak Ridge Drive/Sutter Lane to Foothill Boulevard
  • State Route 124 – 2.3-mile segment from SR-88 to Shakeley Lane
  • State Route 124 – 0.2-mile segment from Shakeley Lane to Raymond Drive

Additionally, the roadway surface on SR-124 at the railroad crossing near Brickyard Road will also be replaced.  All railway activity will stop while work is being performed.

The project is set to begin the week of July 14-20, 2024, (weather permitting) and is scheduled for 50 working days with completion expected by September 2024.

Motorists should expect one-way traffic control during night-time hours, Sundays through Thursdays, from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m., at all locations.  Caltrans will have roadside signage and/or flaggers alerting motorists of the closures.

This $2.4 million maintenance project will be performed by George Reed, Inc. (Sacramento, CA.)
