One-Way Traffic Controls Next Week

Alpine County – – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will not have traffic controls in place next week for construction and maintenance operations.

Ebbetts Pass Update:

Caltrans Woodford Maintenance crews have begun seasonal pass clearing operations on SR-4 / Ebbetts Pass. During the initial weeks of pass clearing operations the westbound SR-4 closure will relocate on weekdays from Raymond Meadows back to Wolf Creek Road in order to allow for Caltrans maintenance crews to perform snow removal operations. Caltrans will keep SR-4 / Ebbetts Pass closed while pass clearing operations are underway and until the highway is re-opened to traffic later this spring. Caltrans would like to remind the public there is no pedestrians access allowable on SR-4 / Ebbetts Pass during pass clearing operations.

Monitor Pass Update:

Caltrans re-opened State Route 89 / Monitor Pass to motorists for the season as of Monday, April 7, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Caltrans reminds motorists to continue using caution while driving in winter conditions and watch for icy road surfaces in the overnight and early morning hours.

Caltrans also reminds motorists to #KnowBeforeYouGo by checking QuickMaps on your mobile device, visit quickmap.dot.ca.gov, tune your car radio to the Caltrans Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) at 530 AM, 1610 AM or 1670 AM, or call our Caltrans Road Condition Hotline at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623). Changeable Message Signs (CMS) will display information regarding the pass closures for motorists.
