Alpine County
No Traffic Controls Scheduled Next Week
Alpine County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will not have traffic controls in place next week for construction and maintenance operations.
Ebbetts Pass Update:
Caltrans Woodford Maintenance crews have moved the SR-4 / Ebbetts Pass closure up from the SR-4/89 Junction closure gate up to the Raymond Meadows closure gate as of 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Ebbetts Pass remains closed for the winter, storm cycles and subsequent road conditions may result in moving highway closures on short notice.
Monitor Pass Update:
State Route 89 / Monitor Pass has been closed for the winter season at the SR-4/89 Junction due to repeated storm cycles. The recent storms, and accumulation of snow, have made the seasonal closure necessary for the safety of motorists and Caltrans crews. Once Monitor Pass has been closed for winter, the highway will not be reopened until conditions warrant later this spring.
Caltrans urges motorists traveling in the Sierras to #MoveOver and slow down when approaching Caltrans snow removal equipment on the highway. Please do not pass snowplows, graders, or sanders, unless instructed by the driver. Not only is it dangerous to you, other motorists, and our workers, it’s also against the law.
Motorists should use caution while driving in winter conditions and watch for icy road surfaces in the overnight and early morning hours. For helpful information on winter driving conditions visit dot.ca.gov/travel/winter-driving-tips.
Caltrans also reminds motorists to #KnowBeforeYouGo by checking QuickMaps on your mobile device, visit quickmap.dot.ca.gov, tune your car radio to the Caltrans Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) at 530 AM, 1610 AM or 1670 AM, or call our Caltrans Road Condition Hotline at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623).
