Construction Stage 6 Traffic Shift To Be In Place From September 26 Through December 2025
San Joaquin County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will soon be shifting all traffic lanes on Interstate 5 (I-5) between Hammer Lane and Eight Mile Road in Stockton as construction progresses to Stage 6 of the I-5 Anchor Pavement and Rehabilitation Project.
The Stage 6 traffic shift will begin September 26, 2025, and will see three traffic lanes on northbound and southbound I-5 remain open during daytime hours, with alternating lane and ramp closures overnight. The northbound #1 (left) lane will be shifted behind k-rail and crossed-over to the newly-paved southbound I-5 left-median lane, with the #2 (middle) and #3 (right) lanes open on the northbound mainline.
Southbound motorists will travel in the #2 (left), #3 (middle), and the newly-paved right shoulder lane. (See illustration above). This Stage 6 traffic shift is expected to be in place through December 2025.
Construction Stage 6 will see work being performed on the #3 (right) lane and right-hand shoulder of northbound I-5 between Eight Mile Road and Hammer Lane in Stockton.
