Caltrans To Provide Update on Plans for Stockton Channel Viaduct

Stockton – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), District 10 will provide a presentation to area business owners, partnering agencies and interested members of the public on plans for replacing the Stockton Channel Viaduct, Tuesday, March 26th, from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Stockton Chamber of Commerce Conference Room.

This major highway project to rebuild the bridge on Interstate 5 in San Joaquin County, spanning the Stockton Channel is necessary to ensure the long-term serviceability and structural integrity needed to accommodate the 130,000 vehicles that use this route on a daily basis. Daily utilization of the bridge includes passenger vehicles, trucks and goods movement that is vital to the state’s economy.  

Caltrans Project Manager, Dina El-Nakhal, will outline the schedule, design and expected traffic impacts during construction of the project, which is forecast to begin in mid-2026. A question-and-answer session will take place following the presentation.
