State Route 99 Pavement Rehabilitation
Project Facts
Project Description
The project proposes to resurface and restore the pavement on State Route 99 in Merced County from 0.4 mile south of Buhach Overcrossing to 0.8 mile north of West Atwater Overhead. The proposed project would also construct a 1,250 foot-long deceleration lane for the northbound and southbound off-ramp at the Applegate Road interchange. Additional right of way would be required for increased drainage capacity with the construction of five retention basins.
Purpose and Need
The purpose of the project is to restore the facility to a state of good repair and to minimize required maintenance. In addition, the project would improve ride quality and extend the service life of the pavement.
Funding Source
The project is programmed in the 2016 State Highway Operations and Protection Program (SHOPP) with funding from the 201.122, Pavement Rehabilitation Program.
