Calaveras State Route 4 ADA Improvements Project
Project Description
This project proposes building approximately 1,100 feet of sidewalk, seven ADA curb ramps, and crosswalks in Murphys along westbound State Route 4 (SR 4) from Pennsylvania Gulch Road to Main Street, and along eastbound Pennsylvania Gulch Road from the SR 4 intersection to Albert Michelson Elementary School. The project also includes a HAWK (High intensity Activated crossWalK) system at the SR 4 and Pennsylvania Gulch Road intersection.
Project Benefits
Purpose
The purpose is to build the sidewalks and crosswalk to enhance safety for all non-motorized users.
Need
There’s a need to close a critical gap and help connect the local elementary school and community park isolated on the corner of Pennsylvania Gulch Road to the rest of the town.
