Olive Orchard / Garner Intersection

Project Description

The County of Calaveras proposes to improve the intersection at State Route 26 at the intersection of Olive Orchard Road/Garner Place.  The project is located in a rural region of the County, approximately five miles southwest of the community of Valley Springs.  Olive Orchard Road forms the west leg and Garner Place forms the east leg.  From this intersection, Olive Orchard Road is the main entrance to the community of Olive Orchard Estates, and Garner Place is a main entrance to the community of Rancho Calaveras.  An Intersection Control Evaluation (ICE) was completed on December 8, 2020.

 

Project Benefits

Purpose and Need

The project purpose is to improve safety and circulation in the project area.  The intersection was included in the Olive Orchard Estates – Traffic Impact Analysis, which was prepared in 2015 and showed the need for new turn lanes at the intersection of SR-26 and Olive Orchard Road/Garner Place.

Project Status

The County of Calaveras has not decided to progress toward developing a Cooperative Agreement with Caltrans.
