Jackson to Pioneer Pavement Anchor Project
Project Description
The State Route (SR) 88 Pavement Anchor Project, in Amador County begins at the junction of State Route 49 in the City of Jackson and ends 0.39 miles west of Silver Dr. in the City of Pioneer. This project has a multi-objective proposal to perform highway pavement rehabilitation, replace 31 culverts, upgrade dikes/curbs, and upgrade metal beam guardrail and terminal sections to current standards. The project also includes improvements to operational and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and the of installation 2,300 LF of bike lanes.
Project Benefits
Purpose & Need
The purpose of this pavement anchor project is to address multiple deficiencies identified throughout the project including distressed and rough-riding pavement, deteriorated culverts substandard guardrail and terminal sections, and gaps in Complete Street facilities. This project will rehabilitate and extend roadway pavement service life and reduce maintenance costs. The project will address old and deteriorated culverts including their inlet and outlet end treatments to prevent damage to the State Highway associated with erosion. This project will improve safety by upgrading the existing guard rail and terminal sections to current design standards. This project will also address the connectivity and safety issues between the town of Pine Grove and Mount Zion State Park for bicyclists and pedestrians.
