Mountain Counties Bridge Rails

Project Description

This project proposes to replace the bridge barrier rails to California ST-75 or Type 85 railing for three bridges and replace one bridge in Alpine County:

  1. Bridge # 31-0022 ALP 88 PM 14.70 - West Fork Carson River
    • Bridge rail replacement only.
  2. Bridge # 31-0005 ALP 88 PM 16.22 - West Fork Carson River,
    • Bridge rail replacement only.
  3. Bridge # 31-0002 ALP 89 PM 14.69 - Markleeville Creek;
    • Bridge rail replacement with shoulder widening to standard eight foot shoulders, and the existing bridge will be replaced.
    • Bridge # 31-0002 will also have scour mitigation installed at its abutments.
  4. Bridge # 31-0011 ALP 04 PM 26.15 - Silver Creek.
    • Bridge rail replacement only.

Coordination with the Alpine County and the Alpine County Local Transportation Commission are stakeholders of consideration during development and selection of alternatives.

Purpose and Need

The purpose of this project is to replace existing nonstandard bridge rails at the four bridges and upgrade to current standards and widen and replace one bridge and is needed to upgrade the non-standard bridge rails.
