U.S. 101 Eel River Bridge Seismic Retrofit (northbound in Rio Dell)

The Eel River Bridge Seismic Retrofit Project on northbound U.S. 101 in Rio Dell aims to perform a partial seismic retrofit of the bridge’s north frame and fully replace the south frames. This bridge has been identified as having seismic vulnerabilities. The project also aims to improve the approach to the bridge.

At this time, we anticipate beginning construction in 2026 and completing it by the end of 2028.

Traffic Impacts

Traffic impacts are likely to be minimal with a detour onto the parallel structure during construction.
