Cris Rojas was appointed the Deputy Director of Administration in July 2010. In this position, she is responsible for the administrative functions of Caltrans, which includes human resources; labor relations; procurement and contracts; office facility operations and planning; statewide security operations; statewide resource management for Administration; and business services. The Administration Program provides services and consultation to staff both in Headquarters and throughout Caltrans' twelve (12) districts.
Prior to this appointment, Ms. Rojas served as an Assistant Chief Counsel in the Legal Division since 2009. She was responsible for the Employment Law and Transportation section and worked with all facets of the department in providing legal advice and guidance regarding personnel issues; ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations and departmental policies and procedures. Her previous assignments in the Legal Division include Deputy Attorney and Deputy Attorney III.
Ms. Rojas has been with Caltrans since 1989; which includes positions in the Divisions of Legal, Human Resources, Engineering Services, Maintenance, and Equal Employment Opportunity. Her diverse work experience and background continues to play a vital part of her success as the Deputy Director of Administration.
Ms. Rojas graduated with a Juris Doctorate at Lincoln Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from the University of California, Davis. In addition, she is a licensed attorney with the California State Bar.
