Acting Chief Deputy Director

Dave brings 32 years of experience with the California Department of Transportation and has served for nearly a decade as the District 2 Director. In this role, he has overseen transportation improvement projects spanning seven counties and portions of two others. He is also responsible for the maintenance and operation of more than 1,700 miles of State Highways within California's second largest geographic district.

Prior to his appointment as District 2 Director, Dave served as the Deputy District Director for Planning and Local Assistance. Throughout his career, he has gained broad experience in key project delivery functions including Design, Construction, Project Management, and Transportation Planning.

Dave holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Davis, and a Master's Certificate in Project Management from The George Washington University.

Dave is Mountain Maidu from the Plumas County area and a non-voting tribal member of the Mooretown Rancheria. He is actively involved in community and cultural initiatives, serving as president of the Shasta County Arts Council and participating in the Native Roots Network, a local Indigenous-based collaborative.
