Pacific Coast Highway LA County Line to Torrance Pavement Rehabilitation

PROJECT

Caltrans is closing lanes in the Cities of Redondo Beach, Long Beach, Torrance, Lomita, Signal Hill and Los Angeles, approximately 22 miles, to perform pavement rehabilitation, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) curb ramp upgrades, construct bus pads, sidewalks and bike lanes, upgrade gutter and drainage systems along with applying new striping for the lane lines. Residents and local businesses located nearby may experience noise and vibrations associated with construction activities. Construction will be performed throughout the night to minimize traffic impacts. Signs will be posted.

BACKGROUND

This is a pavement preservation project. SB 1 provides $5 billion in transportation funding annually split between the state and local agencies. Road projects progress through construction phases more quickly based on the availability of SB 1 funds, including projects that are partially funded by SB 1. BENEFITS

This project will preserve and extend the life of the existing pavement and improve ride quality, as well as improve traffic safety, traffic operations, and pedestrian accessibility. This also includes guardrail, loop detectors, sign replacement, installation of new signal poles, pull boxes and modified ADA crosswalks.

SCHEDULE

Starts Winter 2023/2024 through Winter 2027/ 2028

COST

Cost is estimated at $48.2million. RJ Nobles Inc.of Orange, California is the contractor.

 

Local businesses will remain open throughout the preventative maintenance process.
