7.1 Caltrans Standard Color Schemes & Coatings for Equipment

7.1.1 Equipment color schemes

Except when factory standard color is specified, resulting finish shall be most near to colors listed below.

7.1.2 Product and Safety Data Sheets

Product and safety data sheets provided by coating manufacturer shall be the latest applicable versions.

7.1.5 Substitutions

No substitutions from standard products listed shall be made without written consent of Caltrans.  Unless otherwise noted, substitutions shall comply with all requirements listed under 7.2.  Documentation including test results for determining equivalency shall be supplied by the vendor to Caltrans upon request.

Note 1: When factory standard color is specified, the finish or top coat shall be compatible for re-coat or touch-up with standard paint products listed. 

Note 2: E-coat dipping process is acceptable primer if compatible with top coat paint products listed. 

Note 3: HAA-polyester (TGIC-free) powder coatings shall be considered on a case-by-case basis, example: manufacturer preference, local or country regulations.
