The monthly conventional diesel and renewable diesel indices are used to determine whether the criteria for opt-out of renewable diesel required use and reporting requirements are met. Refer to your contract specification for the opt-out of renewable diesel required use and reporting criteria.
The Department posts conventional diesel and renewable diesel indices by the 5th of each month for the preceding monthly index values.
Notes:
- The Department adopts the monthly retail diesel prices in California posted on the U.S. Energy Information Administration as its monthly conventional diesel price index. For more information, visit the U.S. Energy Information Administration website at https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/pet_pri_gnd_dcus_sca_w.htm.
- The Department collects renewable diesel prices from various retail renewable diesel stations within the Greater Sacramento, Bay Area, Fresno, Los Angeles, and San Diego areas during normal business hours once a week to calculate the monthly renewable diesel price index. The monthly renewable diesel price index is the average price of the collected retail renewable diesel prices in the corresponding month.
