This Index is to be used for calculating payment adjustments for contracts containing “Payment Adjustments for Fuel Price Index Fluctuations,” provisions. Only those contracts’ eligible bid items will be subject to fuel index payment adjustments. The Department does not make fuel index payment adjustments on such contracts when their contractor has opted out of such provisions at time of bid.
The California Statewide Fuel Price Index is determined each month on or about the first business day of the following month by using the posted monthly average diesel (On-Highway – all types) price posted by the U.S. Energy Information Administration for the California region.
