2024 Industry & Caltrans Summit

The 2024 Industry & Caltrans Building Information Modeling for Infrastructure (BIM4I) Summit was held on March 12–13, 2024, in Sacramento, California. This annual event brought together nearly 120 participants from Caltrans, industry partners, and other organizations to discuss the adoption of digital tools for delivering transportation projects. Attendees included representatives from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), Associated General Contractors of California (AGC California), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and small business enterprises (SBEs).

Key Objectives

The 2024 Industry & Caltrans Building Information Modeling for Infrastructure (BIM4I) Summit aimed to synchronize visions between Caltrans and industry for BIM4I adoption. Additionally, the 2024 Industry & Caltrans BIM4I Summit aimed to raise awareness of industry readiness for BIM4I solutions, and develop actionable working group topics to drive the implementation of these digital tools.

Event Highlights

Day 1 focused on aligning visions and industry readiness. BIM4I strategies were presented by Caltrans and industry leaders. Panel discussions addressed industry trends and challenges. Breakout sessions helped identify alignment and misalignment in goals.

Day 2 showcased real-world applications. Presentations discussed project delivery topics such as 3D modeling, automated machine guidance (AMG), and digital as-builts. Breakout discussions helped refine working group topics.
