BISHOP — When the weather starts to warm up, Caltrans begins to clear mountain passes of snow, ice, rock and debris. One of these passes is State Route 120 west of U.S. Highway 395 in Mono County, commonly known as Tioga Pass.
This 13-mile stretch of highway is the highest trans-Sierra route in California. It begins at an elevation of 6,781 feet at its junction with US-395 and rises to 9,945 feet at the eastern gate of Yosemite National Park.
In this Caltrans News Flash, watch what’s involved to reopen the highway to the public in the spring.
