SANTA ANA – Driving distracted through construction areas and work zones puts your life at risk as well as the lives of highway workers who are on the road doing their job.

This week is National Work Zone Awareness Week, and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is raising awareness about the hazards workers face on the job every day.

In this Caltrans News Flash, Caltrans will show you the precautions highway workers take to minimize incidents while they’re out maintaining our roadway.

We're encouraging motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" so workers can come home to their families each day.
