MONO COUNTY — Caltrans opened State Route 108 (Sonora Pass) and State Route 120 W at Lee Vining from their winter closures today. This follows weeks of snow removal by Caltrans maintenance crews from Sonora Junction and Lee Vining in District 9, and Long Barn in District 10. On State Route 108, maintenance teams encountered snow as deep as 16’ on the highway, along with downed trees and debris as they worked toward the summit of the pass. Crews on State Route 120 W encountered similar conditions working toward the eastern entrance of Yosemite National Park.

With both mountain roads now open to vehicle traffic, only one Caltrans District 9 highway—State Route 203 at Mammoth Mountain—remains in a winter closure. Snow removal on that highway has already started.

Lee Vining maintenance crews will continue to perform rock work along State Route 120 W. Drivers may encounter delays when work is happening. The eastern entrance to Yosemite National Park, Tioga Pass, and Tioga Road remain closed.
