Project Benefits

Purpose

The purpose of this project is to enhance future vehicular and pedestrian/bicycle travel, reduce congestion, and improve traffic operations by constructing a roundabout at State Route 216 and Mulberry Street in the city of Woodlake.

Need

A connection is needed at State Route 216 (Naranjo Boulevard) from the Mulberry Street intersection. This connection is needed to provide connectivity within the project limits, given that the existing intersection lacks curb ramps, sidewalks, and marked pedestrian crossings. This project is needed to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety by constructing a single-lane roundabout at the existing intersection.
