Q1) Item #11 Trench Excavation The roadway quantity chart on Q-1 shows this work at the new Drainage Inlet stationing. What work is covered by this item? Is it the excavation for the new DI? Or is the excavation for the new RC Pipe?

A1) Item #11, Trench Excavation is to cover for an eighteen inch diameter reinforced concrete pipe to connect two existing and proposed drainage inlets as shown on L-1 (Layout & Detail) sheet. The work for this item is to excavate a fifteen feet long trench for a 18” reinforced concrete pipe.

Q2) Item #12 Structure Excavation The roadway quantity chart on Q-1 shows this work from sta. 02+31.77 to 02+61.59, which corresponds to the sawcut operations on L-1 and is called Roadway Excavation. Does this Roadway Excavation correspond to Item #12 Structure Excavation?

A2) Item #12, Structure Excavation is to cover for excavation of a proposed drainage inlet as shown on L-1 (Layout & Detail Sheet) sheet. Therefore, No, item # 12 ( Structural Excavation) does not correspond to the roadway excavation as shown on L-1 sheet. The roadway excavation only covers the small section of asphalt shoulder removal for concrete barrier installation.
