Q1) Is rapid-set concrete allowed to be used around the new pipe or does it have to be slurry?
A1) The contract documents specify slurry cement for structure backfill. Please bid per advertised contract documents.
Q2) Are traffic/trench plates allowed to be used on trench crossings? If so, are there any special details (recess, pinning, tack welding, etc)
A2) There are no trench plate details provided in the contract documents. Please bid per advertised contract documents.
Q3) Bid Item 12 “Invasive Species Control” – Is this item for SP Section 14-6.03D(1)? The 2025 Standard Specs 14-6.05 is reserved for invasive species control, but there is no section 14-6.05 in the SP.
A3) Please reference the work for “Invasive Species Control” to Note 3 on Project Plan Sheet L-1, “Vegetation removed due to excavation activities shall be placed on the finished grading plane.”
Q4) Is temporary barrier or K-rail required if the excavation is within the lane closure and the work is backfilled at the end of the shift?
A4) Temporary barrier or K-rail is not a bid item. Please refer to Standard Specifications Section 7-1.04 PUBLIC SAFETY for excavation backfill, and Special Provisions Section 12 for Lane Requirements Chart K1.
