Caltrans will begin a two-week paving repair project on a 12-mile stretch of State Route 128 between Geyserville and Calistoga on Monday, August 25, 2025.

O.C. Jones, Inc. is the contractor on the $1 million project that begins Monday, August 25, and is expected to be completed on Monday, September 8.

Caltrans will implement one-way traffic control between 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM every day, excluding weekends and Labor Day. Caltrans intends to use a pilot car to guide traffic around the closures on this mostly rural and often mountainous section of highway.

During the project, workers will perform dig-outs, a method of roadway repair where workers “dig out” layers of failed pavement and soil. The excavated areas will be refilled, compacted, and paved over.

Other less distressed sections of pavement will be patch paved. Areas where the pavement remains in good condition will be omitted.

The project’s goal is to extend the life of the pavement until a more thorough paving project begins in the next few years.
