Multi-Asset Rehabilitation & Roadside Safety Project

Caltrans has begun a multi-asset rehabilitation project along U.S. 101 that stretches from the northern border of San Mateo County in South San Francisco to the southern border in East Palo Alto. The $177M project includes:
- paving
- guardrail improvements
- transportation management system enhancements
- drainage upgrades
- Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps
The project will bring operational improvements and promote economic vitality in the region. The project is funded by the State’s Highway Operation and Protection Plan (SHOPP), a “fix-it-first” program that funds California highway repair and preservation.
