State Route 35 Pavement Preservation Project

Project Summary

Caltrans has scheduled to begin a pavement preservation project on State Route 35 (Skyline Boulevard) from the San Mateo County line to Sloat Boulevard in the City and County of San Francisco. The project will preserve and extend the lifespan of the existing pavement, address failed pavement locations, and enhance ride quality for motorists in both directions.
In addition, the project will replace traffic detector loops to improve traffic operations and accessibility along the corridor. Together, these improvements will enhance safety and help keep the roadway operating efficiently for all roadway users.
Work Description
Work includes removing a thin layer of the existing asphalt pavement and placing a new rubberized asphalt surface to extend the life of the roadway and provide a smoother ride.
Additional work includes repairing damaged pavement, refreshing pavement striping and markings, and replacing existing traffic detector loops.
Project Limits
The project is located on State Route 35 (Skyline Boulevard) in the City and County of San Francisco, extending from the San Mateo County line to Sloat Boulevard (PM 0.0/2.0).
Key Dates
Construction will begin in Summer 2026 and is estimated to be completed by Fall 2026.
