State Route 131 Retaining Wall Project in Tiburon
Project Overview

Caltrans is in the construction phase of the State Route 131 (Tiburon Boulevard) Retaining Wall Project at Stewart Drive.
The purpose of this project is to stabilize the roadway and upgrade guardrails to meet the current standard. The proposed work would prevent further deterioration and costly future repairs as well as extend the service life of the road. This project will increase road safety and reliability for the travelling public.
Construction could start as early as May 20, 2026, and is expected to last until about mid-summer. There will be nightly one-way traffic control, from about 8 p.m. until 7 a.m. Mondays through Fridays. One-way traffic control will be utilized during nighttime hours to minimize traffic disruptions. This approach aims to reduce the impact on daily traffic flow as much as possible.
The wall is on the eastbound direction of SR-131.
There are no full closures scheduled for this project.
This is a separate from the SR-131 Capital Preventive Maintenance project, which is scheduled to start in late summer. For more on the CAPM, see SR 131 Capital Preventive Maintenance | Caltrans
