Project Overview

Map location for the Second Culvert Project on US-101 in Marin County. The location is near Marin City from Donahue Street to 0.3 miles north of Donahue Street. Flooding affects the entire California Highway System, and Caltrans is looking for ways to mitigate the issue, especially with sea-level rise expected to affect the region in the next 100 years.

With the Second Culvert Project on US-101 in Marin County, Caltrans proposes to build a 6-by-4 culvert that will help mitigate flooding in the Marin City area. The location is near Marin City from Donahue Street to 0.3 miles north of Donahue Street.

The Draft Environmental Document (DED) is scheduled to be circulated externally in December 2024. Caltrans hosted an informational meeting on the project on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Marin Community Service District Teen Center, 630 Drake Ave. in Marin City. A more formal meeting will be held in January 2025.

The project team will inform the public about the purpose and need for the project, the proposed alternatives and feature public comments and outreach. There are four project alternatives being proposed.
