State Route 17 Road Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project

Project Summary

Caltrans has scheduled to begin a pavement preservation project on State Route 17 from Hebard way to the Santa Cruz County Line in Santa Clara County.

The project will preserve and extend the lifespan of the existing pavement, address failed pavement locations, and enhance ride quality for motorists in both directions.

Work Description

Work includes removing a thin layer of the existing asphalt pavement and placing a new rubberized asphalt surface to extend the life of the roadway and provide a smoother ride.

Additional work includes repairing damaged pavement, refreshing pavement striping and markings, and adding high friction surface treatment

Project Limits

The project is located on State Route 17 to Hebard Way to the Santa Cruz County Line in Santa Clara County.

Key Dates

Construction will begin on August 2026 and is estimated to be completed by Fall 2026.

Lane Reductions on State Route 17

State Route 17 will have nighttime lane closures from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning. To help ensure the safety of both the traveling public and work crews, lane closures may begin up to one hour before scheduled work hours.
