Terracon will be the contractor on the $1.6 million project to dig out the failing pavement on the southbound shoulder.
Caltrans will then construct a retaining wall to keep the failing road in place.
Caltrans estimates that the project will take 4-6 months, depending on the state of the soil and potential utility conflicts.
The project is located at post mile 10.4, just south of the grocery store.
One Way Traffic Control
Limitation of working space will require Caltrans to implement one-way traffic control for all but a couple of weeks during the project. When construction begins, Caltrans will order one-way traffic control to prepare the site for construction. During a two-week interlude, the road will fully open when Caltrans work on installing temporary traffic signals. Afterwards, Caltrans will activate the traffic signals, and the road will remain under one-way traffic control for the remainder of the project.
